Orange Democratic Movement elections board has received
nominations papers for former premier Rt Hon. Raila Odinga. So its official that its a 3 horse race in ODM presidential primaries.
He presented is papers the board during the last day of the
exercise at ‘Chungwa House’.
Each Interested candidate who wished to become ODM flag
bearer had to present papers and pay for KSh one million 1,000,000 to book for
a nomination slot.
Raila will battle it out with Mombasa County governor Hon.
Ali Hassan Joho and His Kakamega county counterpart Hon. Wycliff Oparanya. Both
governors are deputy party leaders of the Orange party, whereas Raila Odinga is
the party leader.
The ODM elections board will come up with a manner in which they will pick their flag bearer ahead of 2022 general elections. They may opt for National Delegates conference or Select according to merits any manner the election board dims fit according to party constitution.
This comes amidst the call from a faction of coast region
leaders led by Kilifi governor Kingi & Joho and others, to form their
regional political party bearing in mind that coastal region of Kenya is an ODM
party stronghold.
Will the party be able to hold free and fair nominations?
Only time will tell.
